INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting on Indy's east side.
The shooting occurred just before 5 p.m. on Friday when officers responded to a person shot at E. 38th Street and N. Post Road. When they arrived, officers found not one, but two people with gunshot wounds.
IMPD Public Information Officer, Genae Cook, said one of the victims, a woman, has died from her injuries. The Marion County Coroner's Officer later identified the victim as Ariana Holston, 22. She was pregnant, but it's unknown the fetal gestational age, the coroner says.
The other victim, also a woman, was taken to the hospital and is in serious condition.
Police are asking anyone with information to step up so their neighbors can enjoy the holiday weekend without the fear of violence.
