INDIANAPOLIS — Police are looking for a suspect after they allegedly stole a car with a child inside from an animal hospital Tuesday afternoon in Indianapolis.
A woman left a child inside a blue Hyundai Accent still running around 3:30 p.m. and went inside to All Pet Care, near West Washington Street and Holt Road, when a man allegedly stole the car with the child still inside, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
The woman came outside, noticed her car was missing, flagged down a man in a truck and chased the car, according to police. The suspect allegedly parked the car behind a church in the 1500 block of South Belmont Avenue, knocked on the door of a nearby house, let them know the child was in the car, and ran away. The people inside the house called police.
The child did not appear to have any injuries and is being checked out by paramedics, according to police.
Police are still looking for the suspect and asking for anyone with information to call them or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-TIPS (8477).
