IMPD: Man dies after an apparent shooting on Indy's east side Thursday

INDIANAPOLIS — A man is dead after an apparent shooting Thursday morning on the east side of Indianapolis, according to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department public information officer, Genae Cook.

According to PIO Cook, IMPD officers were dispatched to 937 North Dearborn Street at 3:31 a.m. on Thursday for reports of a person shot. Cook says that when officers arrived they located a man suffering from "injuries consistent with gunshot wound(s)."

The shooting victim was transported to an area hospital in critical condition where he was later pronounced dead.

Aggravated assault and homicide detectives responded to the scene to canvas for witnesses.

The identity of the man killed has yet to be released at this time.
