INDIANAPOLIS -- An officer with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was arrested on suspicion of battery late Tuesday night.

Veteran IMPD officer Troy Fitts was arrested at his home just before midnight on Indianapolis' northeast side, Call 6 Investigates has learned.

According to jail records, Fitts was preliminarily charged with domestic battery and battery.

Fitts has been with the department since 1990 and is currently assigned to the North District as a day officer.

Fitts is the third IMPD officer arrested this week. Two other officers were arrested Monday night on suspicion of operating while under the influence after a motorcycle crash in the Fountain Square neighborhood.

Police reports state that Dustin Keedy and Timothy Elliott were riding in the area when Keedy was involved in a crash. He and Elliott both tested above the legal limit for alcohol at the scene and were placed under arrest. Call 6 sources say Keedy and Eliott are both officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
