IMPD: Woman found shot on Christmas morning in Indianapolis dies

INDIANAPOLIS — A woman was found shot and killed early Christmas morning on the southeast side of Indianapolis, police announced Wednesday.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called around 4 a.m. to the 2700 block of South Hunter Road, near Southeastern Avenue and the Interstate 465 and 74 interchange, on the report of a person shot.

When they arrived, they found a woman who was suffering from at least one apparent gunshot wound, IMPD Officer William Young said in a press release.

Additional details, including the woman's identity, have not been released.

WRTV has reached out to IMPD for additional information and is awaiting a response.
