CARMEL — A juvenile is facing a pair of charges stemming from a police pursuit in Carmel on Wednesday.

According to a report from Carmel police, officers were called to report of a business break-in alarm in the 800 block of East 116th Street at 2:38 a.m. Wednesday. As officers were responding to the area, they found a suspicious person looking into the windows of a firearms store in the 500 block of West Carmel Drive.

Police said as officers went to investigate the suspicious activity, the person ran to a car parked in the area and fled the scene. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, however, the driver refused to stop. Police said the pursuit ended in the area of East 116th Street and Eden Estates Drive, where two suspects fled from the vehicle on foot.

According to police, one juvenile suspect was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. The juvenile allegedly had a handgun in their possession. The second suspect evaded capture.

The juvenile is facing two misdemeanor charges — unlawful possession of a firearm and resisting law enforcement.

It is the latest in a series of vehicle pursuits in recent weeks related to suspicious activity at or near Carmel businesses.

In late December, officers were called to an apparent robbery at a Walgreens on South Range Line Road. The suspect in that case led officers on a chase and crashed on Plum Creek Golf Course property.

In early January, officers were called to a robbery at a CVS Pharmacy on South Range Line Road. The suspects led police on a chase and crashed near 116th Street and Woodland Drive.
