Girl injured in shooting on Indy's northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS — A girl was injured in a shooting Sunday afternoon on the northeast side of Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers and emergency personnel were called around 2:30 p.m. to the 8300 block of Meadowlark Drive, near North Franklin Road and Pendleton Pike, on the report of a person shot, IMPD Officer Michael Hewitt said in an email.

When they arrived, they located a girl who was shot, Hewitt said. The juvenile was taken to Riley Hospital for Children in critical but stable condition.

At this time, police have not released the identity of the victim or any possible suspects.

Detectives are working to find out what led to the shooting.
