14-year-old struck, killed in hit-and-run in Indianapolis

CUMBERLAND — A juvenile has died after being struck in a hit-and-run in Indianapolis Thursday night.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the incident occurred in the 1100 block of North Cumberland Road just before 10 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile male who was struck by a vehicle while riding his bike southbound on the edge of the roadway.

The juvenile victim was transported to Riley Hospital in critical condition.

The suspect vehicle did not remain on the scene.

Family identified the victim as 14-year-old Wilberto Rivera III. He passed away from his injuries on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

According to IMPD, the juvenile did not have lights or reflectors on his bike. There was a group of kids walking next to him at the time of the incident.
