LAFAYETTE — A Lafayette man was arrested Thursday night following a deadly stabbing.

Police responded to the 1100 block of Rochelle Drive before 11:15 p.m. on a report of a suspicious person, according to Lafayette police. An officer who arrived found a man who had been stabbed to death.

Marc Sherwood, 46, was killed in the incident, Tippecanoe County Chief Deputy Coroner Carrie Costello said in an email. An autopsy was conducted Saturday and preliminary findings show the cause of death as multiple stab wounds.

Nike Haynie, 18, was charged Wednesday with murder by the Tippecanoe County Prosecutor's Office.

An argument between Haynie and Sherwood led to the deadly stabbing, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact the Lafayette Police Department at 765-807-1200 or the WeTip Hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME.
