LAFAYETTE — The Lafayette Police Department arrested a man in a domestic battery that happened in a McDonald’s parking lot over the weekend.
At about 2:40 p.m. Sunday, police were called to the McDonald’s at 510 Sagamore Parkway North on a domestic battery in the parking lot.
The people involved in the battery left the scene before officers arrived, but witnesses recorded the incident on video. The video shows a man pushing a woman into the passenger's seat of a car, then getting into the driver's seat. The woman opens the door, and the man gets out and pushes her back into the seat, then closes the door. This process repeats once before the man drives away with the woman in the car.
Police have since found the female victim and checked on her well-being.
On Wednesday evening, officers located the suspect on a traffic stop. The 22-year-old Lafayette man was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery and suspicion of criminal confinement related to the incident at McDonald's. He was also arrested on a separate charge of suspicion of possession of methamphetamine.
Anybody with information about the case should call the Lafayette Police Department at 765-807-1200.
