ANDERSON — A Madison County councilman has been charged with child seduction and possession of child pornography following a nearly four-month investigation.
Steven Sumner, 52, of Anderson, turned himself into the Madison County Jail on Monday afternoon, according to Indiana State Police. He is currently being held on bond.
Indiana State Police began investigating Sumner in late August following an allegation of child seduction with a minor under the age of 16.
Investigators with the Indiana State Police Cyber Crimes Division analyzed electronic devices seized from Sumner and found evidence of child pornography.
Sumner, a Republican, was elected to a second term in 2018 to represent District 2 in Madison County.
