INDIANAPOLIS — Formal charges were filed Wednesday against a man accused of shooting two women over the weekend because one of them was talking to his friend too much, according to court documents.
Jermaine Lamar, 47, allegedly shot the women Friday night after yelling at one of them for talking to one of his friends too much at a house, according to court documents. The shootings happened in a truck on a side street near Interstate 465 and Washington Street in Indianapolis.
One woman, whose identity has not been released, died on Saturday morning, according to court documents. She was allegedly asleep in the back seat of a truck when she was shot in the head.

The Marion County Prosecutor's Office formally charged Lamar with murder, attempted murder, and being a felon carrying a handgun with a prior conviction within the last 15 years, according to online court records.

Lamar was allegedly driving with the women in his truck after shooting them and flagged down a Hendricks County Sheriff's deputy around 11:45 p.m. Friday in Plainfield, according to court documents.
When detectives asked Lamar about the incident, he denied shooting the women, according to court documents. He said he pulled over on the shoulder of interstate so the women could use the restroom when another vehicle pulled behind him and two men starting fighting with him. Lamar says the men fired shots and hit him with a black handgun. Detectives said they did not observe any injuries indicting he had been struck with the gun.
The incident is believed to be domestic related, IMPD Officer Genae Cook said in an email Saturday morning.
An initial hearing for Lamar is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, according to online court records.
