SPEEDWAY — Murder charges have been officially filed against a man accused of fatally stabbing his mother Sunday night in Speedway.
Vinson Edge, 39, allegedly stabbed his mother, Vickie Edge, around 9:30 p.m. in the 5000 block of White Horse Road after an argument with her about an inheritance, according to a probable cause affidavit. He was charged with murder and battery by means of a deadly weapon.
A witness told police they thought he was joking at first when he asked for his inheritance money because they had not spoken to each other before the incident, according to the affidavit.
There were two children inside the apartment during the incident, according to the affidavit. They were not inured.
Vinson was arrested after he was shot Monday evening in downtown Indianapolis, according to the affidavit.
A man has been arrested in connection with the shooting, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. Official charges have not been filed by the prosecutor's office.

An initial hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Friday, according to online court documents.
