Man dies two days after being assaulted on Indianapolis' west side

INDIANAPOLIS — A man died Sunday two days after he was assaulted on the west side of Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers and emergency personnel were called around 5:30 a.m. Friday in the 600 block of Division Street, near Oliver Avenue and South Harding Street, on the report of an assault, IMPD Officer Michael Hewitt said in a press release. They located a man in critical condition and suffering from unknown trauma when they arrived.

On Sunday, the man died, Hewitt said. His death is being investigated as a homicide.

The identity of the man or any possible suspects have not been released.

IMPD homicide detectives are working to determine the details surrounding the incident.
