INDIANAPOLIS — A Yorktown man has been arrested after holding a woman hostage in her home on Saturday, according to Major Joey Cole of Madison County Sheriffs Department.
Madison County Sheriff's Department officers were notified at 11 a.m. on Saturday of a person being held hostage in the 4000 block of South 100 East.
The SWAT team was stationed at a nearby outbuilding, where the victim had run to from her residence after a few hours of being held hostage.
A short time later, according to Major Cole, the suspect exited the home and surrendered to officers.
In an interview, the suspect told police that he did not know the woman or the owners of the property and had entered the house through an unlocked door.
The victim told police she was held at gunpoint and threatened multiple times during the standoff.
The suspect is being held at the Madison County Detention Center and charged with Burglary, Theft, Pointing a Firearm, Criminal Confinement, Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, Unlawful Possession, and Intimidation.
