LAWRENCE, Ind. -- A man was shot and killed in a parking lot at a strip mall in Lawrence Tuesday morning.

The first call came in around 11:30 a.m. for shots fired in the 4200 block of N. Franklin Road.

Lawrence police say they found a man who'd been shot at least once sitting in a car.

He was taken to Methodist hospital but did not survive.

The shooting happened near an early learning center with kids inside, but no kids or employees were hurt.

This is first homicide of the year in Lawrence.
