Man's body found near abandoned Indy apartment complex

UPDATE: According to a report from IMPD, it was determined during the autopsy that the victim had been shot. The case is now considered a homicide.

INDIANAPOLIS — A man's dead body was found near an abandoned apartment complex on Indianapolis' northeast side on Friday.

According to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 5000 block of Roselawn Drive just before 1:30 p.m. on report of a person deceased at the location. When officers arrived, the found an adult male dead outside near an abandoned apartment complex.

Homicide detectives and the Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to canvass the area for witnesses and assist in identifying the victim and collecting potential forensic evidence.

The Marion County Coroner's Office will determine the exact manner and cause of death.
