ELWOOD -- The mother of an 11-month-old baby in Elwood is facing a murder charge in her daughter's death.
22-year-old Anna Pablo was arrested Wednesday on a neglect of a dependent charge. Following an autopsy, Madison County Prosecutor Rodney Cummings added a murder charge.
Madison County Coroner Danielle Noone, who had called the baby's death "suspicious" from the start, said Emmarie Pablo died from "blunt force injuries to the head, strangulation and suffocation."
According to Elwood Police Department Lt. Zach Taylor, Emmarie Pablo, who would have turned one next week, was brought by her mother to St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood Tuesday afternoon.
Noone said the baby was pronounced dead just after arriving at the hospital.
The infant lived at 2009 Main Street in Elwood, about 45 miles northeast of Indianapolis.
