INDIANAPOLIS — It's been almost six-years since 18-year-old Linda Kelley was found dead in the home she shared with her parents on the Indianapolis southeast side.
Now, Linda's mother, 45-year-old Lavonne Kelley, has pleaded guilty to a charge of neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury. Thursday, she was sentenced to six-years by Marion County Judge Grant Hawkins, with five of those years served in the community corrections program.
56-year-old John Kelley, Linda's father, is also charged with neglect. His next hearing is in November. No trial date has been set.
The paralyzed young woman who suffered from spina bifida died from a number of medical problems in a home described by investigators as filthy. Linda's parents were accused of not seeking medical care for their daughter.
