INDIANAPOLIS — An employee of a northeast side Indianapolis Dollar Tree store was shot and seriously wounded during a robbery Tuesday evening.

Indianapolis police were called to the store in the 7300 block of North Shadeland Avenue just after 8 p.m. The area is a busy commercial district just south of East 75th Street and east of Interstate 465.

At the scene, a police public information officer said a male employee was shot inside the store. The victim's original condition was described as "critical." He is now considered stable.

Several employees were working at the time of the robbery. Police are hoping surveillance video of the incident will be available.

Police say they are looking for one suspect.
