INDIANAPOLIS — One person is dead following a shooting on the far east side of Indianapolis Sunday morning.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department East District officers responded to 10193 John Marshall Dr. on reports of a person shot at 11 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult male on the ground in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot injury.
The man was identified as Stephen Hale, 32, by the Marion County Coroner's Office.
Hale was transported to a local hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Police say the shooting occurred outside.
Detectives have identified the person responsible for this incident.
Police said the individual was interviewed and released after consultation with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. There is a possible self-defense claim.
The investigation remains ongoing and detectives will present their findings to the MCPO for further review.
