Man critically wounded in shooting near McDonald's on Indy's east side

INDIANAPOLIS — A man is in critical condition after a shooting near an east side intersection on Monday night.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the McDonald's in the 7200 block of E. Washington Street just after 9 p.m. for a report of a person shot.

Arriving officers found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound in the grass next to the restaurant. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Preliminary information suggests the victim was inside the McDonald's and had left the building before being shot, according to IMPD.

Police said several people that were in the McDonald's left the location before police could question them.
