Woman dead after early morning shooting on Indy's north side

INDIANAPOLIS — A woman is dead after an early morning shooting on Indianapolis' north side.

According to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the 1000 block of West 33rd Street shortly before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday on report of a person shot.

When officers arrived, they found a woman with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police detained a suspect when they arrived at the scene.

The victim's identity has not been released.
