BLOOMINGTON — One person is dead and a second person was seriously injured in a double shooting in Bloomington late Thursday evening.
Bloomington Police Department officers were called to the 2000 block of N. Walnut Street just after 9 p.m. for a shooting investigation.
Responding officers located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims had been short multiple times in his upper torso and the other victim had been shot in the shoulder.
Both victims were taken to IU Health Bloomington hospital.
One of the victims later died from their injuries. That victim has been identified as Skylar Maupin, 21.
The second victim has been stabilized and is expected to survive. Police say that victim was able to identify the suspects, who had fled the scene, to police.
The victim also told police that the suspects were at the home to purchase marijuana from the victims but they had changed their minds and decided to rob them.
Those two suspects, identified as Jamarius Turnage, 25, and Cleodis Collins, 24, were later apprehended by police.
The shooting remains under investigation by the Bloomington Police Department.
