Woman critically injured in shooting at gas station on Indianapolis' east side

INDIANAPOLIS — A woman was critically injured in a shooting Thursday evening on the east side of Indianapolis, according to police.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to investigate the shooting around 7:30 p.m. at a gas station near East Michigan Street and North Sherman Drive, IMPD Officer Michael Hewitt said.

The woman was taken to a local hospital in serious condition, Hewitt said. Their identity has not been released.

Someone shot at through the passenger side window of a car the woman was in, officers at the scene said.

Additional information about the incident has not been released.
