Person critically injured in shooting on northeast side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — A person is in critical condition after a shooting Saturday evening on the northeast side of Indianapolis.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers and emergency personnel were called around 4:30 p.m. to the 6200 block of Newberry Road on the report of a person shot, IMPD Sgt. Jim Gillespie said in an email.

The victim was taken to I.U. Health Methodist Hospital critical condition, Gillespie said.

At this time, police are still working to determine what led to the shooting.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
