Person critically injured in shooting Sunday evening on Indianapolis' northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS — Police in Indianapolis are investigating after a person was critically injured in a shooting Sunday evening on the city's northeast side.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to investigate the shooting around 5 p.m. in the 2800 block of Elwin Drive, near East 30th Street and North Post Road, IMPD Officer Michael Hewitt said in an email.

When they arrived, they found a person suffering from at least one apparent gunshot wound, Hewitt said. They were taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Their identity or additional details surrounding the incident have not been released at this time.
