Person killed in shooting on Indy’s east side

INDIANAPOLIS — One person died in a shooting on the east side of Indianapolis on Saturday night.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the 2000 block of North Drexel Avenue on reports of a person shot just before 9:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim lying in the road suffering from a gunshot injury. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Marion County Coroner's Office will release the name of the victim once his family is notified.
