Man charged in connection with June homicide in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — A man has been charged in connection with a June homicide on Indianapolis' northeast side.

Around 9:30 p.m. on June 19, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the 4000 block of Hampshire Court, near East 42nd Street and North Post Road, to investigate the shooting, IMPD Officer Genae Cook said in an email.

When they arrived, they found a man lying on the ground who appeared to be suffering from at least one gunshot wound, Cook said. They later died. The person has been identified as 27-year-old Zyair Herron.

On Wednesday, Jeremy Satisfield, 22, of Indianapolis, was charged with murder in connection with the incident, according to a press release from IMPD. Formal charges have been filed by the Marion County Prosecutor's Office, according to the release and online court records.

Additional details on the incident have not been released.
