Man identified who was found shot to death outside apartment complex on Indianapolis' northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS -- A person was found shot to death on the sidewalk outside an apartment complex on Indianapolis' northeast side Friday evening. 

Police responded to the area of John Marshall Drive and North Mitthoefer Road at the Amber Wood Apartments just before 10 p.m. for an unresponsive person lying on the sidewalk. 

When police arrived they found a man lying near the entrance to the apartment complex. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Homicide detectives were called to the scene after officers observed what appeared to be a gunshot wound on the man's body. He has been identified as Alyjah Mahammad, 19, by the Marion County Coroner.

This is the Indianapolis' third homicide of the year.

The second occurred around 4 a.m. Friday morning on the city's west side.

Matthew Boddie, 33, was shot several times in the face in the 1700 block of N. Somerset Avenue.

No arrests have been made in either homicide.
