CARMEL — A deadly shooting in Carmel on Monday that ended with the suspect also dead stemmed from a domestic situation, police said on Tuesday.
According to a report from Carmel police, the domestic situation occurred prior to the suspect threatening suicide.
Police said the original 911 caller reported the suspect had a gun. During the call, dispatchers heard gunshots in the background. While officers were responding, there were additional 911 calls reporting gunshots. When officers arrived on the scene, they found two victims with gunshot wounds.

According to police, officers found the suspect nearby and determined the suspect was still armed. The suspect led officers on a brief foot chase. Carmel police said one officer discharged their service weapon. Police have not said if the suspect was struck and killed by gunfire from the officer, however, the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police on Tuesday identified the suspect as Julio Cesar Virula, 26, of Carmel.
Police also identified the victim who was killed as Taylor Leigh Cox, 28, of Carmel. The other victim is a 66-year-old woman from Carmel who was taken to an area hospital and later released, police said.
It all took place around 8 a.m. Monday in the 14300 block of Riverrock Court.
