CARLISLE — An Indianapolis man serving a 55-year sentence for the murder of an Indianapolis pizza delivery driver is now charged in the prison murder of the co-defendant in the same case.
According to Indiana State Police, 29-year-old Derek Romano faces a murder charge in the May killing of 32-year-old Jeremiah Roberts at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility in Sullivan County.
Romano and Roberts were convicted in the 2014 murder of 49-year-old John Sullivan, a pizza delivery driver who was beaten to death while working on the Indianapolis west side. Romano and Roberts then stole Sullivan's car and drove to Wyoming, where they were caught.
In 2015, Romano was sentenced to 55-years at Wabash Valley for the murder. Two years later, Roberts. who was from Texas, received a 62-year sentence and was also sent to Wabash Valley.
Now, Roberts is dead and Romano is charged in his murder.
