INDIANAPOLIS — Two people are in custody after a police pursuit resulted in shots being fired Monday night on the south side of Indianapolis, police say.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers originally ended the pursuit around 8 p.m. near Gilbert and East streets, after the driver turned around and allegedly drove towards an officer, who fired several shots at the truck, IMPD Sgt. Grace Sibley said in an email.

The suspects did not shoot at officers, Sibely said.

Officers then attempted to chase the truck as it drove away, but eventually lost it, Sibley said.

A short time later, officers spotted the truck where they chased it to a restaurant near U.S. 31 and Fry Road in Greenwood, Sibley said. Two suspects, a man and woman, were taken into custody. The suspects were not injured.
