Death on Indy's west side is city's 200th homicide of 2020

INDIANAPOLIS — An death investigation on Indianapolis' west side on Tuesday evening is the city's 200th homicide of 2020, police said.

Police initially said they were conducting a death investigation before adding it was being investigated as a homicide

According to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to the area of Scarlet Oak Court and Lawnview Lane around 7:25 p.m. on report of a car crash.

When officers arrived, they found a vehicle that appeared to have been in a crash and a man suffering from injuries inconsistent with a car crash, police said. Police said the victim had "undisclosed trauma."

Police at the scene said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
