INDIANAPOLIS — One person is dead and two others are critically injured after a shooting on the city's southeast side Thursday night.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a residence in the 3200 block of Capsella Lane on reports of a person shot just before 9 p.m. This is located in a neighborhood near Troy and Arlington Avenues.

Upon arrival, officers located three adult males suffering from gunshot injuries.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene, and two others were transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

A witness told police the incident began as a gun sale but the individuals involved began arguing. That argument escalated to a shooting.

IMPD says two other males were also inside the home but jumped out of the window to get away from the gunfire. Those individuals are cooperating with the police.

Multiple individuals were interviewed and later released, IMPD said. Multiple firearms were located and seized as evidence on scene.

This shooting marks Indy's first homicide of 2025.

Anyone with information about this incident should call Detective Anthony Johnson at the IMPD Homicide Office at 317.327.3475 or e-mail the detective at Anthony.Johnson@indy.gov.
