INDIANAPOLIS — A suspect in a weekend homicide in Indianapolis was arrested in Arkansas, police said Monday.

According to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, a 38-year-old man was arrested in Randolph County, Ark. by the Arkansas State Police.

The arrest stems from the death of a woman on the southeast side of Indianapolis on Saturday.

According to the Marion County Coroner's Office, the victim has been identified as Karen Galvez Hernandez, 24. The coroner's office said Hernandez died from multiple gunshot wounds.

According to police, officers were called to the 6800 block of Mimosa Lane to check the welfare of a person. When officers arrived, they found an adult woman with apparent trauma. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Saturday a suspect had been identified and detained.
