WESTFIELD — The threat that initiated a police response on Monday to Westfield High School originated from outside the state, according to police.
Similar threats from the same phone number were made to government entities in other states, before and after the incident at the high school, according to a press release from the Westfield Police Department. There didn't appear to be a credible threat in any of the cases.
Specifics about the threat haven't been released.
“We immediately sheltered in place and contacted the Westfield Police Department,” an email sent to parents and staff on Monday read. “The police secured the building and are currently investigating the situation. All students, staff and building personnel are safe.”
The incident at the high school remains under investigation.
