INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says two people are dead and five others were hurt after multiple shootings around the city Wednesday night.

Around 7 p.m., police found two men with gunshot wounds in the 8800 block of Westfield Way around 7 p.m. One victim was located outside of a car and the other was inside a vehicle.

IMPD says both men died at the hospital. The Marion County Coroner's Office identified the victims as Blake Coffman, 20, and Andrew Jones, 21.

On Monday, Jan. 10, IMPD announced it has arrested a 19-year-old in connection with their deaths. Formal charges haven't been filed, according to online court records.

Officers were canvassing the area looking for witnesses and ask anyone with information to contact them.

Throughout the day on Wednesday, IMPD says five other people were injured by gunshots. Two of them are in stable condition, two were reported to be awake and breathing and there was no condition provided for the fifth victim.

IMPD asks anyone with information about the double homicide to contact Detective David Miller at the IMPD Homicide Office at 317-327-3475 or e-mail him at David.Miller@indy.gov
