FISHERS — One of two teens shot late Thursday evening outside a sports facility in Fishers has died.
According to Fishers Police Department Captain Mike Johnson, the shooting happened around 9:45 p.m. in the parking lot of the Best Choice Fieldhouse, a sports facility near I-69 and 116th Street.
Johnson described the victims as two juvenile males. Both teens were rushed to the hospital and one later died.
The Marion County Coroner identified the teen who died as Thomas Pearson Jr., 17. The second teen's condition and identity remain unknown at this time.
Fishers police are searching for two suspects seen fleeing the area in an older model beige 'boxy-style' or square body-type Toyota sedan. Police could not release a full description of either suspect.
A spokesperson for the Best Choice Fieldhouse described the incident as "tragic." "Fishers Police Department has indicated this was a targeted attack and there is no current threat to the community. We will continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement." said Roger Harvey. " Out of an abundance of caution, we will have a law enforcement presence at our facility this weekend to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all.”
