Woman found in Indy church died from strangulation, stab wounds, coroner's office says

INDIANAPOLIS — The Marion County Coroner's Office determined the cause of death of a woman who was found dead Sunday morning in a Fountain Square church.

Julie Morey, 58, died from strangulation and multiple stab wounds, the coroner's office said. Her death is being investigated as a homicide.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the 900 block of East Prospect Street around 9:15 a.m. Sunday after Morey was found unresponsive on the couch of the Religious Education Center building of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
