LAWRENCE — A woman is in serious condition after a shooting Tuesday afternoon in Lawrence.
Lawrence Police Department officers and emergency personnel were called around 3 p.m. to a gas station near Sunnyside Road and Pendleton Pike, LPD Deputy Chief Gary Woodruff said.
When they arrived, they located a woman who had been shot, Woodruff said. They were awake and talking, but in serious condition, when they were taken to an area hospital.
The suspect, the victim's ex-spouse, was later located by police in a nearby neighborhood, Woodruff said. He later died by suicide.
