UPLAND — A 17-year-old was arrested after a woman was killed and a man was injured in a double-shooting Wednesday night at a residence in Grant County, police said Thursday.

Officers from the Grant County Sheriff's Department, Upland Police Department, Taylor University Police Department, and Indiana State Police responded to the shooting around 10:19 p.m. in the 700 block of East 700 South in Upland, according to a news release from the Grant County Sheriff's Department.

A man and woman, both 18 years old, were found shot inside the residence.

Medics provided aid to the woman, but she was pronounced deceased. She has been identified as Khloe Martin, of Fairmount.

The man was transported to a hospital in Fort Wayne for surgery. He is now stable in the intensive care unit.

A 17-year-old was taken into custody and preliminarily charged with murder, attempted murder, aggravated battery, criminal recklessness, possession of methamphetamine, and dealing in marijuana, according to the sheriff's department.

Detectives say it appears shots were fired into the residence from outside.
