CUMBERLAND, Ind. -- A woman pretending to be an employee of Cumberland, Indiana has been approaching houses in Hancock County, falsely saying the homeowners are in violation of town ordinances.
According to a release from the Cumberland Metropolitan Police Department, a woman has approached multiple houses in the Glen Oaks neighborhood, which is on 700 West, just north of US 40.
She has been impersonating a Town of Cumberland employee, but it is unclear if she's been pretending to be a police officer. The woman has been telling people they are in violation of various town ordinances. She also may try to enforce the ordinances through unknown means, according to the release.
If somebody approaches your home saying they are an employee with the Town of Cumberland, or a Cumberland Police Officer, ask to see their identification cards. If they can't provide one, close the door and call 911.
