INDIANAPOLIS -- A woman was shot late Saturday night in downtown Indianapolis.
The shooting happened at the intersection of West Washington Street and North Illinois Street between the Hyatt Regency and Circle Centre Mall just after 11:45 p.m.
The 40-year-old woman was wounded in the calf. She underwent several hours of surgery on Sunday.
Officers with Indy Metro Police say the person who fired the shots ran off. No arrests have been made.
It's not clear why the person opened fire in the first place.
