INDIANAPOLIS — One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a crash on I-65 involving a construction crew Tuesday morning.

Indiana State Police say the crash happened around 10 a.m. at the Southport Road exit ramp.

ISP PIO Sgt. John Perrine said a construction vehicle had just pulled over to begin work when a second vehicle lost control and collided with it from behind.

The driver of that vehicle was killed in the crash. The passenger was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.

Tyberious Garrett, 22, was killed in the crash, Marion County Chief Deputy Coroner Alfie McGinty said in an email.

No one in the construction vehicle was injured.

All lanes of southbound I-65 were closed while crews investigated the crash scene Tuesday morning.

The crash remains under investigation.
