Muncie ‘Bonnie and Clyde' accused of robbing several convenience stores

MUNCIE, Ind. – A Muncie couple, police compared to Bonnie and Clyde, were accused of robbing multiple stores, but were finally taken into custody Wednesday.

Officers said Garrison Wood, 33, and 23-year-old Karina Holbrook were linked to three other store robberies in September, including a Shell gas station on Tillotson Avenue.

Police met the pair following an alleged robbery at Hoosier Pete’s Convenience Store, where they carried out their latest crime.

“I just looked through the window and saw a man with a mask and a gun,” said Richard Kete, store clerk working during the incident.

Kete said as the suspect went behind the counter, he hid in the office and dialed 911.

After struggling to open the cash register drawer, Kete said the suspect ran off with it.

Once police arrived, K-9 officers tracked the drawer to Southside Middle School where it was found empty.

Holbrook was arrested nearby and Wood was found inside a car near a mobile home.

Kete said he’s thankful he was able to end the crime spree.

Holbrook and Wood face charges of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, while Holbrook was preliminarily charged with theft, possession of a firearm by a violent felon, and three counts of armed robbery.
