INDIANAPOLIS — Against a brilliant blue sky, a portion of the Downtown Indianapolis Canal turned a bright orange Thursday at the Ohio Street River Basin.
The dying of the canal is part of the annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration, according to the Indiana Latino Institute. A month of events commemorates Hispanic culture, history, traditions, along with the economic and cultural impact Latinos make throughout Indiana and the country.
As one of the events, the institute is hosting an art contest in which elementary and middle school students submit their own Loteria (Bingo) card.
