INDIANAPOLIS -- If you’re making room in your closet for some of those Black Friday purchases, why not donate some of your older items to “Dress for Success” as part of their annual “Giving Shoesday” event.

On Tuesday, the Indianapolis chapter will be accepting donations of professional shoes to give to women who want to look confident and their best when they go to a job interview.

In 2015, a record 1,600 pairs of shoes were collected during the event. And organizers say they hope to break that record this year.

“Shoes are so important to use, because it’s part of the complete ensemble that we give to women free of charge. So when they have a beautiful suit and blouse and jewelry and purses, which we also need. Shoes are so very, very important,” said Barbara Ellsworth, Executive Director of Dress for Success.

The top donor in Indianapolis will receive a $500 gift card from California Closets.
