SHARPSVILLE—A 94-year-old Tipton County man who walked away from home in the early-morning hours was struck and killed on U.S. 31.
Monday's accident claimed the life of Everett Cottingham of Sharpsville, which is south of Kokomo and about one hour north of Indianapolis.
A Kokomo man told investigators he was driving south on 31 when his pickup struck something near the side of the road.
That's where deputies found Cottingham's body.
A few minutes earlier, family members had called 911 to say Cottingham had walked away from home.
The accident remains under investigation by the Tipton County Sheriff's Department.
