FISHERS — The next K-9 officer for the Fishers Police Department is training to join the force.
In a post on Facebook on Friday, Fishers police introduced K-9 Rico.
Rico, a 14-month-old Belgian Malinois, is training with Officer Jarred Koopman at a facility in Miami County and has three weeks left of training. The department said Rico is a dual purpose narcotics K-9.
The department's previous K-9, Harlej, was shot and killed Nov. 13 while assisting with a manhunt.
